The main driving force in my live has always been the unknown and magical. Be it the feeling you get entering an abandoned house in the middle of a forest, pondering about the mysteries of the universe or exploring a remote wilderness on your own. In my work I like to evoke those emotions by creating stories and images out of this world.
Maxim is an award-winning director and screenwriter currently living in Berlin. He works in commercials, narrative fiction, documentary as well as photography. Coming from traditional film he likes to be deeply involved in every step of the creation process. This is where his additional experience as a copywriter, DoP as well as his skills in every aspect of the post production come in handy.

When Maxim Kuphal-Potapenko was born in Moscow it was still under the Soviet regime. He grew up in Moscow, (East-)Berlin, and Warsaw. After Highschool Maxim studied Audiovisual Media (BA) at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences where he directed his first short films. After that he was master’s degree student at the Hamburg Media School (MA Film Directing). His short-films participated in the competitions of international film festivals and won numerous awards. Amongst other artist in residencies and international film labs Maxim attended the renowned Script Station at the Berlin Film Festival’s Talents program for further development of his first feature. In 2017 Maxim co-founded Molle&Korn, a creative agency exclusively working on social, political and environmental issues.
